Once upon a time in MUMBAI

On Saturday 18-09-10, we (me & pal) had our dinner at Colaba in Mumbai. The reason for being their  was CDS exam on Sunday. But that was not the matter of concern atleast to me. That was just an excuse to be there.

Pal had been there earlier also, so he knew more than me. So he took me to Sagarika- a guest house by army for army personals, but unfortunetly we didn't make it there but fortunetly we reached Sagar- guest house for sailors by navy. Fortunetly! becoz places like Marine Drive, Gateway of India, Hotel Taj etc were at walking distance from us. And guess it just cost us Rs.60/- per day with a lot of facilities in there. After booking our room there we went for a walk to Gateway of India. There we met an TV Actor, oh sorry! but I didn't recognize his name but saw him in many serials of Doordarshan. He was with a friend talking to a photographer. Pal saw him and told me 'oye dekh tv actor', I was just 'chal milte hai'. And next moment we shake our hands, introduce ourself and had a small talk with him.

Pal : Sir aap or yahan kaise ?
Actor(Surprised & Annoying): What do u mean mein yahan kaise ?
I (by handling the situation): Sir, normally yahan par famous personalities aise nhn ghomati thats why he asked so!
Actor: wo sale chutiye hai jo nhn ghoomate.

And he left, but we were shocked how can an actor says that. Honestly speaking ' koi use ghas nhn dal raha tha '  but we made him think a famous personality. After that incident we came back to our hotel. There we met a guy- a navy person, he was from U.P. so its like UP-UP bhai bhai. He arranged 4 beer which cost us Rs.140 (Rs.35/- per beer), we kept those beer in our bag and now on the way to couple's spot- the Marine Drive as anyone can easily see lots of couple's there. We settle down there on sand from the sea, it was around 0930 in the dark, we starts empting those bottle. I agree, that was risky but we took the risk. That was an awesome experience, ' yaroon literally feel aa gayi '. The view of Queen's necklace was amazing. There was an warm up exercise for eyes was also available; for that we just need kept our eyes open and had greenery (salon ghas mat samjhna, this time bandiya) everywhere and we did it.

 Whoever says that
'Raat k 12 baje din nikalta hai,
subah k 6 baje raat hoti hai  '
is absolutely correct for this city. It was around 0130 hrs in mid night when we were on the way to our hotel and there was no sign of sleepiness, the city was running in its full pace.

At the dawn we were on our ways for CDS exam. During this I had an great experience of something without which any Living Being is not Living, Mumbai is not Mumbai and so as this blog. Yes, you have gussed it right, it was the heart beat- The local trains which allow millions to reach their destination daily and I was one of them on that day, but what a rush, f**k even though  I managed to get in properly because get in those trains was also the major issue. Beside all this, it was a great fun and an unforgettable experience.

Moving toward the end I wanna say: Mumbai was same as I heard of it.
                                              'Mumbai humka jum gayi'

A new start from the start

I already stepped in final year of my Engineering (not for sure, result yet not declare). But fingers are crossed and this time I'm hoping for something good.

Just one year and we (my colleague) are going to be the Engineers. Everyone in college enjoying their final year in there way (aakhir hum baap ho gaye hai bhai). But some of us (including me) deals with little bit of pressure of getting placement from the college so we are mildly tensed; or whatever it may be, we still enjoying this, with fun.

The weather of this college starts changing and I really don’t know how terrific it’s going to be, especially for me. I don't even manage to see the silver line in the clouds. All the time my mind is struggles with some queries like:

kon si company aa rahi hai?,
  kab aa rahi hai ?,
  uska criteria kya hai ?,
koi NC nhn aa rahi kya?,
  kya puchegi?

"Or kyon na ho” The placement season in our college is on the verge of its start and I still dont know what to do.....or what not to do! For getting place in any reputed company oh! Sorry, my mistake... not in reputed but in any kind of company.

I know that I don’t know anything in technical field and I know without that it is not possible for me to outperform in any round but still I’m not focused! I don’t know why??

Leaving the past behind: I think ("jab jaago tabhi sawera" wali baat) now the time has come to start from the scratch. And this time for sure I’m confident to make my dream comes true and I will make it happen.

It's Over

I know this doesn't mean to you but I still wanna say, m back with my bullshit.

Its over, Indian Cricket Team already lost the battle. India was knocked out of world cup without winning a Super Eight game for the second successive year. Why? What's the reason?

The  coach Gery Kristan is unhappy with players "fitness". The South African apparently believe that most of the Indian players are overwight and in fact unfit to play international cricket. He is blaming the selection commitee for this debacle as they didn't consult him while picking the squad.

The skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni blamed late night parties of IPL for this calamity. He finally admitted, that the frenetic pace of IPL cost India.

But whatever might be the reason they came back empty handed and have to face the consequences. And for this BCCI members were planning to strip off Dhoni from his captaincy but actually the real culprits are these commitee members.

Media report suggest that Virendra sehwag's name is being considered for T20 and ODI captaincy. The person who is fighting with his injuries and didn't play last two world cup. This doesn't mean that I don't like sehwag I like him the most but when he hit boundaries.

To my mind their is no one perfect in this world. Everyone makes mistakes in his life and learn from those mistakes. I think this is the time when everyone has to be calm and whatever be the decision made, we have to  respect that. This is a sport and there are ups and downs in this, so without bothering about the decision and after forgoting the past players has to focus on upcoming series and mainly on ICC 2011 world cup.

"Honour Killing" A Feud

"Honour killing" or "Honor killing" is one of the hotest news from a last few days. It is staggering, that Honor killing is still a wrangle in country like India. I felt peeved whenever, I read the news of Honour killing in newspaper.

Honor killing is the murder of the family or family member which brought dishonor to family or community by fellow family or community members. The dishonor may be due to refusing to enter in the arranged marriage, seeking for divorce, engaged in relationship with other person.

People are still murdered across the India daring to marry without their family's acceptance, in some cases for marring outside the caste or religion. The marriages with 'untouchable' caste male/female instigate the killing of married couple or the family of that couple. This is the unique form of killing related to the practice of 'untouchability'. In India states like Haryana, Bihar, U.P. are know for these kind of notorious incidents. These killing results from the perception to bring the honor back to the family or the community.

To stop these kind of notorious activities there must be some strict steps taken by government. There should be some kind of rigorous punishment impose to the convicts like Haryana court did two days back. I admire the judgement of the court in which it awarded capital punishment to five convicts and life sentence to one for mudering the couple.

IPL is back

Yeh! its back again; time of excitement, enthusiasm and glamour is back again.
As you all know, there is a strong relationship in Indians and cricket. We Indians consider cricket as religion rather than just a sport and most of us treat the players of Indian team as our God. And heaven is here. When it comes to the game, Cricket is leading the way in India, and the national game Hockey miles behind. The passion among the people for the game is evident in the matches that are hosted in India.
The whirlpool of twenty20 has been already started. I guess you already know! what I am talking about? Yes! I am talking about the IPL (Indian Premier League), the heaven for cricketers. The third season of IPL already kicked off  in India on 12 March 2010 , it is going to feature 60 games and will last over a period of 45 days. This time five new venues have been added in IPL (Cuttack, Vizag, Ahemdabad, Dharmshala and Nagpur).

The IPL, is a Twenty20 cricket competition initiated by the BCCI  Vice President Lalit Modi, sponsored by India's leading real estate developer DLF Ltd and many other companies endorsing it. It includes 8 teams or "franchise" consisting of players from different countries. This time the players were auctioned in month of January in which franchises had shown interest in them. A total number of 66 overseas players were included in the final auction list.

There are two way to earn money in this world. One is shortkut and another one is chota shortkut i.e. IPL. It makes money for those who already have huge amount of money in their pocket. And shortkut for the youngsters to show their talents; it works as a platform for the youngsters.

In my opinion, this game only favour the batsmen, they step in the field with just with one motive to hit the ball so hard that it cross the fence; So, there is no role of bowlers in this except that they have to bowl for twenty overs and just watching the ball crossing  the fences. And yes this is what fans or crowd wants, they pay money to see this only, they really enjoy this. And for making it more glamorous cheerleaders are there, they accomplish the remaining moto of the IPL. The TRP of TV channels which provide live telecast of IPL matches spikes to the sky in hrs between 3 PM to 12 midnight.

Several bollywood stars and business men have shown a tremendous interest in owing the IPL teams like SRK, Vijay Mallya, Mukesh Ambani and many more.

Shahrukh Khan's owned team Kolkata Knight Rider despite not winning any season, manages to earn maximum money (mostly through advertisement) in both earlier seasons, even though, in last season it finished last in the tally. While the Deccan Charger which was earlier expected to top the tally, finished last in first season but played final with its colleague Banglore Royal Challenger (second last in first season) in second season and managed to the scrape the season.Whereas the Rajasthan Royal which was expected to be the worst in first season, got triumph in that season and top the tally. Moving to Delhi Daredevil and Chennai Super Kings, were the teams which graduated to the semi's in both the seasons but becaz of there hardluck never got success. And last but the least Mumbai Indians not even managed to graduated to the semi's, hoping this time it will do something.

So enjoy this.......

First Holi - In College

Monday 1st March 2010. The day was quite a nice experience as it was HOLI.

Usually, we celebrate Holi with colors and sweets; we start waiting for it from at least two months ago and start preparing for it a day or two before the occasion. Bizarre! this time I didn't even think of it. Desolation engulfed me as this time I was in my college first time away from sweet home.

The day started as usual. I woke up when sun was shinning head on..... Strangely, for the first time I went for breakfast without have a bath in college. And started watching 'Roadies' (reality of MTv) after returning back to the hostel. Actually, I wasn't deliberate to celebrate Holi and didn't even bother who were celebrating it. Eventually, my flank mates came and took me with them to BaBa.

Oh! Yes, 'BaBa', actually it is a meeting point of  smokers half a kilometer from  my college. Genuinely, it is heaven for smokers. We went there for have  BHANG. It cost around Rs.25/- per glass. Initially we ordered a glass for each one of us, we have that but none of us feels like we have drank a glass of bhang, so we thought for second but we didn't have enough money for us. Actually, we left with only 100 bucks and there were five guys to drink, I didn't remember how but we managed to arrange another 25 bucks and ordered for second one, we drank that too but still have no such kind of feeling that we drank two glasses of bhang, so we decided not to waste more money on this and move from there to college. This was my second time but, quite a nice experience better than first one. In between we met many of our college guys who were going to baba, but Of course! For bhang. After an hour or two, I felt some kind of drastic change in my health. I feels like my life get clogged and every frame of my life starts drifting blindingly slow pace. I didn't knew what had happened to me, I feels like my throat geting desiccated, I told 'Spiky' my roomie to get some water for me, I drank water and felt like I get my breath back but again the same thing happened. Actually, I was to not able to breathe properly. Then, somehow with the help of 'Lal' I reached to the washbasin and washed my face and it feels like heaven. It was around 11:45 in the morning and I had a strong dozy feeling but I knew, if I went on bed don't know when I m going to wake up so I thought of having lunch first and rest thing later. And I did so, I went for lunch, but while having lunch I felt like everything whatever it was running extremely slowly. As I started chewing chapati, I ate one chapati then second then third and so on till the number rises to nine. Actually, I was unable to control my jaw, it keep go on, it was out my command. So on that day, I managed to made a record of having nine chapaties at once.....hmmm.....nice one. Somehow, I finished my lunch and returned back to hostel, as I felt exhauted and dozy I went to bed around 12:30 in noon. And woken up by someone from comatose I didn't remember who he was, at around 7:30 in evening but I didn't fully recover, still I was in process of recovery, my whole body was aching. Somehow, I managed to get up, went to washbasin and wash my face. That was the moment I feel oh! Yes, I am safe....and went for having dinner, have it and return to my room. As I was not fully recover, I thought of a kip and once again went to bed.

So this was my story of First Holi In College.
This is all I m able to recongnize.

Examining Reservation

A frequently heard word reservation.
What reservation exactly is??
Reservation is a provision of 'quota' system in which a fixed number of seats get reserved in schools and colleges; these quotas are not only only limited to the education level, but it also paly a vital role when we are hunting for the jobs where a specific no. of posts get reserved for the people comes under the reservation criteria in Government and in Private sector as well.

The word reservation was first introduced by Dr. Ambedkar in the Constitution of India for the people of 'Schedule Caste' and 'Schedule Tribe' just after Independence and they provide them reservation of 10 percent and we appreciate him for this step as he just wants to equalise the society. But the thing astonishing me is now the reservation were introduced for other sections as well. The supreme court ruling that reservations cannot exceed 50% has put a cap on reservations However, but certain Indian states like Rajasthan have proposed a 68 % reservation which includes a 14% reservation for forward castes why? Now days reservations are given on Caste Basis/State of Domicile/Religion Basis and depends on many other criterias. Would you think there is any need of reservation now?

IN SUPPORT
1. Actually, Reservations are a political necessity in India because vast influential sections of voting population see reservations as beneficial to themselves.
2. Reservations is a means to increase representation of low caste groups and thereby improve diversity on campus.

IN OPPOSE
1. Allocating quotas is a form of discrimination which is contrary to the right to equality.
2. Poor people from "forward castes" do not have any social or economical advantage over rich people from backward caste.

SOLUTION
1. Reservation decisions has to be taken based on based on real facts and not influenced by personal beliefs or feelings basis.
2. Emphasis should be given to proper primary and secondary education so that groups under-represented in higher education institutes and workplaces become natural competitors.
3. Government should announce long term plan to phase out reservations.
4. Reservations should be based on economic status instead of caste-based-reservations.

With this bit of thought, a day would come when there is no one arguing for reservation.
